Do you often experience...
- Feeling like you don’t have the resources or ability to make something happen
- Sense of being out of sync or that your timing is off
- Holding back your words out of fear of loss
- Sense of weakness or despondency
- Sadness stuck in the throat
- Tension, tightness or restriction
If these resonate with you, you're likely drawn to the Yellow Chuparosa Flower.

WHAT IT REVEALS
If you’re drawn to the Yellow Chuparosa Flower, you may sometimes find yourself thinking: Why didn’t I act on this sooner? What took me so long? I missed the boat. It’s too late. Or: I jumped the gun. I was too ahead of the curve. These moments may result in a twinge of sadness, as if time was lost or the opportunity has passed.
On stressful days, you might even go so far as to feel a sense of despondency or hopelessness. Words or emotion might get stuck in your throat. You may keep quiet due to the fear of further loss – of someone, something or of opportunities.
Instead of speaking up and expressing yourself freely, you keep your mouth shut. Your heart shuts down a little bit, in sync with your throat. You may worry that in certain circumstances, a display of emotion would be inappropriate or alienate you. You may control your emotions to the extent that you feel tight, restricted or shut down.

WHAT IT CATALYZES
The Yellow Chuparosa is the quintessential flower at helping us make something out of nothing! It helps us pair things down to simplicity, and from there, build exponentially.
For example, at first when you look in your refrigerator, you may think to yourself: Oh, there’s nothing in here. But then with a little spontaneity and creativity, you pair a few simple ingredients together and make something spectacular. Indeed, sometimes just a few simple ingredients in a dish can create a meal that is surprisingly delicious. We realize that the best things in life don’t require complexity, rather that it’s the combination or pairing of the precise ingredients in their full vibrancy, in order to become something so much greater than the parts themselves.
Yellow Chuparosa helps us assemble aspects that might seem simple, plain or even initially lacking, and pair them in a way that creates a whole new experience or reality. We begin to trust in timing and our own ability to take advantage of timing. We feel a renewed sense of strength and enthusiasm, which leads to joyful effort.
Our bodies relax, our hearts open and the heart-throat connection revitalizes itself again. We’re able to express ourselves fearlessly, knowing that our sense of timing is on point. We trust that in any given moment, we’re able to be resourceful and creative enough to enjoy the nectar of life.
FUN FACTS
The Yellow Chuparosa is a drought-resistant Sonoran desert flower native to Southwestern U.S. and Northwestern Mexico. During dry summers, the Chuparosa drops its leaves to conserve water, and has a unique ability to carry out photosynthesis within its stems alone!
Also known as Hummingbird Bush, the Yellow Chuparosa is loved by hummingbirds & is a symbol of joy. Chupa-rosa in Spanish means hummingbird, and literally translates to ‘rose-sucker,’ referring to the way these tiny birds slurp up flower nectar. With Yellow Chuparosa’s flowers perfectly shaped for the hummingbird’s beak, they are the plant’s primary pollinator. It even helps tracking hummingbird migration patterns, as they follow it so religiously. Chuparosa plants are also an important supporter of several native butterflies, often used as a home in their larval stage.
The nectar is also safe for human consumption, and the flowers can be eaten whole, fresh on their own or commonly added to salads, said to have a sweet, cucumber-like flavor.
