I discovered Shower of Orchids at the Naples Botanical Garden in Florida. I was introduced to this plant by the former garden director, Brian Holley, whose work is a huge inspiration to me. Brian explained that although named after orchids, this plant is not an orchid at all! It’s a prolifically-flowering vine that can be pruned to look more like a shrub.
If you’re attracted to the Shower of Orchids, you may be wanting to explore your value and contribution to the world. A part of you may be longing to unleash your full potential and full purpose in life! You may be asking yourself lately about what you offer or are capable of offering at the highest operating level of: YOU!
We’re human! Tiny little niggling fears of being unimportant, opportunities slipping away or a sense of loss around aging may run like a subtle program in the background. Unacknowledged and unchecked, these underlying fears can lead to moments of doubt, confusion, insecurity or feeling not good enough. These emotions can then manifest outwardly in our behavior, when we become quiet, hold back our wisdom or refrain from speaking up.
Have you ever had that feeling where you have something important to say, but you feel yourself becoming deeply quiet? You might be percolating and soaking in your own wisdom, building it up for the perfect timing of unleashing your power! If so … now is the perfect time.
The Shower of Orchids elixir magnifies softness, gentleness and overflowing graciousness. It helps us fully embody and radiate our wisdom, both our innate wisdom and knowingness, as well as our experience. If we become quiet while working with Shower of Orchids, it is not out of holding back, but rather a sinking into active observation mode and actively engaging in listening to others - being more acutely aware of what is happening in between the lines. This elixir helps us more deeply understand our value in the world, fully honoring our unique contribution and impact.
Shower of Orchids flower elixir enhances our energetic presence and helps us assimilate through direct experience that being is more powerful than doing. It inspires a fearlessness that is a knowingness. It enhances our ability to be our most elegant, regal, wise and patient selves, and awakens in us a deep understanding of the way things work in the world.
The Shower of Orchids is a tropical flower native to Thailand and Burma. Within North America, this plant has only ever been seen growing in Florida and Hawaii. At first glance, you see what you think are soft pink and lavender petals, but are actually the bracts that hold the space for the tiny flowers to pop up in the center of what look like propellers made of velvet! The flowers are white and magenta, with stamen and anther that are as subtle as your eyelashes. Over time the fuzzy bracts turn from pink/lavender to gray.
If you happen to live in Hawaii or Florida and have an opportunity to grow this flower, it is said to be an excellent and long-lasting cut flower. It would be a fun flower for florists to play with it’s color palette of pink, lavender, magenta, white and gray and textures of fuzzy velvet.
