ROSE PLAY DOUGH

We all strive to be in touch with our inner child. To feel perfectly wild. To have happiness and laughter come as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Kids make the world a happier place. Period. Helping take care of these little divine beings is SO important, especially from the inside out!

Skin is the largest organ on our body. Everything that we put on our skin has the ability to enter  our bodies, and stick around for that matter. Play-doh’s unknown added dye, fragrance + preservatives are all absorbed into the skin! Not only that, but the scent of play-doh is SUPER off-putting. Plus, the stench sticks on the kids, meaning it will travel everywhere they go! Blech!

I’ve put together a super simple recipe that’s safe, gluten-free and has a wonderful flower aroma!

Ingredients

2 Cups baking soda

1 cup corn starch

1 1/4 cups water

Rose petals (dried)

¼ cups rose water

Mix together all of the dry ingredients in a large pot. Add the water and rose water to the pot and move over to the stove top (low-medium heat). Start mixing over the heat until it starts to form a dough-like consistency and holds the shape of the ball. It takes a little while, but once it starts to thicken, the process goes crazy fast.img_5900

After it’s sticking together and balled up, set aside the pot with the dough to let it cool down.

Once it’s cool enough to touch, begin to knead the dough. Sprinkle some cornstarch on the counter to prevent the dough from sticking. This also helps you reach the desired consistency. If it is still too sticky, add some cornstarch little by little until it’s everything you dreamed it to be! If it’s too dry, add a tad more water!

Finally, add and gently knead the delicate flower petals in! If you want this to last multiple days, use dry petals. For a one time use, fresh petals work amazing. However, overtime, the baking soda starts to have a reaction with the petals, causing them to change color.img_5912

Add a dropperful of Infinite Love or Joy Juice Elixir for even more flower power!  And there you have it ~ a rose play-doh that will make your child’s mind and body happy as can be!
