7 ESSENTIALS TO BRING ON YOUR NEXT HIKING TRIP

Hiking girl on top of mountain

As the leaves change colors and the weather cools down, the time for hiking is slowly slipping through our fingers!  Before you know it, we’ll be sitting next to fires, bundling up in over-sized sweaters and sipping away on hot holiday drinks.  BUT there’s still time to enjoy the weather! As we gear up for a few more fall hiking adventures, the LOTUSWEI team has a few easy essentials to make your trip as enjoyable as possible…

Quiet Mind or Inner Peace Balancing Serum as an insect repellent.

At the LOTUSWEI office, two of our team-members have 4 legs {we rescued two pit bulls a few years ago & they provide the best company when any of us need to take a short break outside!}. When the weather is warm, the bugs like to test their patience. After rubbing Quiet Mind Serum on their coat, the biting ceased!

Most insect repellents on the market are chock-full of toxic ingredients {chemical adherents, synthetic fragrances & harmful plasticizers. Read more on that here.}. Since your skin is the largest organ on your body, the toxins absorbed go straight into your blood stream. Quiet MindInner Peace are ideal for repellents since they contain geranium and lavender essential oils {respectively}. Both oils are known for their natural ability to keep pesky insects away. Massage one of these serums onto your skin before adventuring to eliminate the problem before it begins!

Pure Lavender Essential Oil

In case the bugs are ruthless and still go for the big bite, applying pure lavender essential oil straight to the irritated area will instantly relieve itching. Lavender oil is well known for it’s anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects.  It’s calming + relaxing qualities also transfer to the nerves, leaving an all around soothing feeling!

Cayenne Pepper

A little bit of cayenne pepper can be a life saver in case of an emergency.  Hiking can be extremely unpredictable.  One wrong step can lead to a pretty serious + painful injury.  In the event of trauma, ingesting a small amount of cayenne will calm the nervous system, making it easier to evaluate + recover from the situation.  If there’s a wound that’s bleeding, you can apply the pepper topically and it will equalize your blood pressure, causing a faster clotting process.  Hopefully, you won’t need to use it.  But it’s better to be safe than sorry when you’re out in the wild!

Inspired Action Flower Elixir

Even when the hike is too pretty for words, the anticipation of reaching the final destination may push us to that point of, “are we there yet?!”  Before hopping on the trail, put a dropperful {about 25 drops} of Inspired Action Flower Elixir into your water bottle to magnify in-the-moment awareness, motivation + a boost of energy.  It’ll help focus your mind + body on the trail, keeping every moment as exciting + blissful as it should be.

Small Bag for Treasures

As you make your way to the top, be on the look out for fallen foliage, stones, twigs, anything! Each time you find something beautiful, put it in your bag and continue on.  Once you reach the top, find a space to sit and make a nature mandala with your found treasures.  When you’re finished, dedicate your mandala to something special ~ for the nature spirits, for the benefit of all beings’ happiness…anything that feels right to you.

wei of chocolate

Chocolate {because what’s a hike without some decadent bliss?}

When you discover wherever you set out to find, enjoy the view and a piece of Wei Gratitude! If it’s a little cold outside, the chai spices in Wei Gratitude {cinnamon, cardamom, clove, coriander} will warm you up & make you feel all tingly inside!

Take 2 minutes to close your eyes & let the chocolate melt in your mouth. Reflect on how incredible it feels to breathe ~ to feel the air going in & out of your body. Notice how every part of your body feels ~ your head, neck, shoulders, chest, tummy, hips, knees, all the way down to your toes. If you feel any discomfort or tension anywhere, acknowledge it & soften into it. Once the last bit of chocolate has dissolved, give yourself credit for having spent this time nourishing your body in a very deep way.

Enjoy your outdoor adventures!
